Back when I was a criminal prosecutor - and an expert advocate on behalf of everyone else - I was incapable of speaking my own truth.

Every time I tried to share a vulnerable inner truth, my throat closed up. It felt as if something was blocking me from speaking, no matter how hard I tried to get the words out.

It’s one thing to speak intellectually or on behalf of others. It’s another to express your own insides to the outside world.

When you speak, you become seen.

Thus, you have to create internal safety so you feel safe being seen in order to speak your truth.
