Severe weather from ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has caused coastal erosion at beaches along the Gold Coast and further north in the Sunshine Coast.
Main Beach on the Gold Coast had waves as high as 12 metres.
Coastal Engineer and Director of Gold Coast-based International Costal Management, Aaron Salyer, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "The Gold Coast just can't wait a couple of years to fully regenerate."
"So it steps in and does these things, with dredging and nourishment pipelines and whatever it can to help that process along as quick as possible," Mr Salyer continued.
