This episode of The Recovered Life Show, "How I Did It," features an interview with Cole Chance, a recovering addict who shares her personal story of addiction and how it almost cost her her life.

Cole describes herself as a "severe alcoholic" with a high tolerance who was constantly managing her addiction by making sure she had enough alcohol in her system and drinking in public and private. She talks about her experience with rehab in her twenties and how she was not ready to get sober and was just trying to find ways to feel better. She talks about her obsession with being a "normal drinker" and how it led to her having a grand mal seizure and going to rehab. She also talks about her addiction to drugs and how an overdose finally broke the bubble of delusion that she had that she was choosing to do this and it was not a problem. Cole recalls a therapist telling her one day she will realize that she can be high or she can be happy and that's when she finally surrendered. Her story illustrates the challenges and struggles of overcoming addiction and how important it is to keep searching for help even when it seems difficult.
