In today's episode I'm going to share with you some of the backstory of how I got into speaking and give you some tips for how you can get into speaking if you are interested in becoming a professional speaker. As I look through my career, I was really fortunate because I was given a lot of opportunities early on in my career to be in front of a lot of people. Today, a big part of my business is speaking and I've been fortunate to speak on stages, literally all over the world stages large and small. Here are a few tips for honing your craft as a professional speaker: Tip One: Always try to put yourself in a position where you are in front of people. Raise your hand and volunteer for opportunities - look for opportunities local to you. Tip Two: Think about what your message is about. Do you want to teach? Is it something inspirational? Is it something educational? Is it something funny? Is it a life lesson? Is it a skill? What is that people ask you all the time? What are things that you're the most passionate about? Tip Three: Start to put some of that content out there in the form of video content. If you want to become a subject matter expert on a certain topic or whatever it is that you want to talk about, start thinking about what type of video content can you start to create on a consistent basis. Speaking is something that I truly love and enjoy. At the risk of sounding corny, I truly feel at home on a stage. So if speaking is something you're curious about and you'd like me to talk more about that, I'm happy to share more about that. Just let me know!
