  • The Strength to Endure with Former Major League Pitcher Dave Dravecky

At Olympic Stadium in Montreal, in his second start after coming back from cancer surgery (that involved removing 50% of his deltoid muscle), Giants southpaw pitcher, Dave Dravecky suffers a broken arm. Dave collapses to the ground and clutches his left arm in severe pain after throwing a wild pitch to Tim Raines. This will be his final pitch. In 1991, he went on to have his arm, shoulder and the left side of his collarbone amputated in order to spare his life from the spread of cancer. In enduring the amputation and the loss of his childhood dream, Dave was to discover his real purpose in life.

In this episode, Dave shares how losing his arm and the dream of baseball became a platform to share hope with the suffering around the world. Tune in for what is a candid and inspiring story of vulnerability, discovery and faith when a man lets go of what he thought his life would be, to discover who he really is.

  • The Courage to Say, "I Am Not Okay"
In todayÕs episode, you will hear EmilyÕs story. Her story unfolds as she eagerly awaited the arrival of her first baby, only to be laid off shortly before giving birth. With the loss of employment, all her best laid plans to provide financially for her family, allowing her spouse to stay home with their child, were unceremoniously dismantled. Emily struggled with fears of financial scarcity and of disappointing others, and found herself spiraling into the depths of anxiety, depression and isolation. In this place of struggle, Emily did what was most unnatural for her to do Ñ she asked for help. It was when she asked for help and then allowed herself to receive support and love that everything began to improve Ñ totally shifting the trajectory of her life and how she moves through it.

  • Opening the Heart to Compassion
In 2013, due to complications from a congenital heart defect, Marla Levy had to undergo three open heart surgeries in just 16 days. After her second surgery, her heart didnÕt resume beating on its own for almost a week. During that time, she was put on a machine that takes over the function of the heart and lungs. Unfortunately, one of the common side effects is acute kidney failure. MarlaÕs kidneys shut down, and she was placed on dialysis 24 hours a day. Battling triple organ failure and fighting an infection, Marla was put into an induced coma as her family and friends prayed for her and as her medical team fought to keep her alive. And, stay alive she did. On the other side of this experience Marla is forever changed. She did not just stay alive. Rather, she learned how to truly be alive. During her time in the hospital, she experienced more than one ÒSpiritually Transformative ExperienceÓ; experiences that profoundly shifted her awareness, her priorities and her appreciation for the purpose of her life. Today, MarlaÕs priorities in life are deeply shaped by a commitment to extending compassion to all those she meets Ð particularly if she senses they are suffering.
