Children in Germany often suffer from vitamin D deficiency – This is shown by concordant surveys by Prof. Dr. Spitz and the Robert Koch Institute.
Studies confirm that vitamin D deficiency in childhood promotes diseases such as rickets, asthma, allergies, neurodermatitis, autism, diabetes and dental diseases.
Especially when the administered vitamin D dose is very low, the incidence of diabetes and general autoimmune diseases explodes.
For children and babies in particular, an adequate vitamin D intake is essential for good health in order to counteract the diseases that result from a vitamin D deficiency – Continue here.
How important is vitamin D supply for babies and children?
With average values of less than 20 ng/ml instead of at least 30 ng/ml vitamin D in the blood, the majority of German children are affected by a vitamin D deficiency. This could be counteracted by administering vitamin D, which unfortunately is currently only the case for infants.
In the case of infants, the administered vitamin D amount of 500 I.U./day is only argued to prevent the childhood disease rickets.
For comparison: In the FRG, infants were given doses of 200,000,400,000 I.U. of vitamin D between 1950 and 1970, in the GDR even 6 x 600,000 I.U. Toxic effects are known neither from the FRG nor fro
