Struggling to close sales, keep your goals and place, and hitting burnout? Here’s the talk and advice you’ve been needing to give you that boost right back on track!
Sometimes you need to look again at your goals and reestablish them. Complacency will lead to initially coasting, and then falling behind. Because most goals are weak it lets complacency set in. There is a lot of money to be made in technical sales, and it’s far greater than your initial goals may be. Set the goal so high, that everyone around you will think you’re just a tad too crazy to be in the business. At the very least, even if you don’t reach your insane goal, you trekked far higher than anyone else still lagging near the bottom. And with every year in the business, that goal needs to be set higher and higher. More importantly is the road map and method of reaching that goal, it should be set around what you want to achieve and broken down step-by-step to how you will achieve it. It’s not just about the money, it’s what you want to do with it that should be that driving factor.
The “vehicle”, AKA the company and method you are working with to achieve your goals, should have some good wheels on. In other words, is the organization you’re working for behind you and supporting you with all you need to get there? If your goals are bigger than what the company has, then it’s time to start finding one that can help you reach your goal. Especially in today’s chaotic economy, you need to be thinking much further ahead and take into account what inflation will do to your income and your lifestyle goals. This makes it all the more critical to put your time and energy into the right things that will actually help you rather than hold you back or even hinder you.
The glue that keeps your goals, actions, and everything else together is your mindset - if you don’t have the right one, no amount of resources can help you and you will fall apart. Bad things are going to happen along the way and you need to see it as no big deal. There’s always a silver lining in everything that happens; a problem that has a solution, a lesson to be learned for next time, or feedback you can apply to make your process better. Take every “no” as “not right now” and keep to that down the line, so 6 months are even a year from now, that no might be a yes when you play your cards right. You have control over your own reactions to everything around you. Yes, sometimes you will miss out on a deal, don’t let it derail you - always have more customers to go through in the pipeline.
As time goes by, keep yourself in check and audit your goals and process. Hold yourself accountable to this as it keeps you vigilant and alert to if you’re doing all you need to reach that goal. If you see yourself falling of course, see what it is you need to do to put yourself back in the game. Your mindset, vehicle, and yes, your goals may not be up to par. Whenever you are watching this, don’t wait til next month, next quarter, next year to reset your goals and mindset - there is no better time than now. Keep positive and keep moving forward!
