Dragons, giants and ogres are the terrifying characters of myths and folktales from all over the globe.  The type of monsters have evolved over time reflecting the changing threats to a society, from the environment and the fringes of a community. The monsters of modern myths portrayed in books and films are now more frequently humans themselves.
