  • 016 Grief and Healing to Grow Your Business

In this week's episode I talk to my good friend Dipti Solanki. Dipti works with people to identify, understand and heal their grief. In thinking about this we talk about the many ways grief can show up for us and the different types of grief and how this can impact us as business owners. The last nearly two years have been really tough for so many people and with it comes a level of grief. So, how can healing from all of this grief help us to grow our business? Tune in to find out how.

    About Dipti:

Dipti Solanki is a rare breed: she isn’t afraid to sit with her own or other people’s discomfort. She walks alongside men & women who are no longer willing to live lives of resentment, tense relationships, deep sorrow, frustrated ambition and hollow friendships. Instead, Dipti guides them through a deep healing process that clears out the stagnant grief & loss that keeps them stuck, and shows them the amazing potential that each day holds. Dipti was devastated by grief early in her own life. Like many people, she thought she was “fine” until persistent depression and severe anxiety took over. The process that Dipti takes her clients through is the same that she experienced, which is why she’s so committed to spreading the message that positive change and healing ARE possible. When Dipti learned that her unresolved grief was keeping her from meaningful relationships, living her truth and feeling true happiness, she dedicated her life to helping people clear out the sludge of old emotional wounds and live life beyond their wildest imaginings. Her clients have never looked back, and neither has she. Dipti is a highly qualified and experienced Grief & Life Coach and a registered Homeopath, and will be delivering some incredible training on Healing Grief and Loss. Grief and loss arises from so much more than just bereavement. If we are to step into our true potential, it's vital that we are able to honour the impact of these events and understand that not doing so can keep us stuck in business and in life. Healing from loss in all its forms is an integral part of our evolution. It frees us from the past, sabotaging patterns and paves the way to leading a truly joyful, successful and aligned life.

  • 014 The Real Impact of Illness on Business Owners with Bryony Thomas

Today's episode follows a scare with COVID and it truly made me think about the impact of illness on business owners. I couldn't think of anyone better to discuss this with than my friend, Bryony Thomas.

Bryony was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has been receiving treatment during the pandemic. We get serious on the REAL impact of illness on business owners from talking about finding out you are sick, sharing the news with your family, worrying about the impact it might have on your business and importantly do you have the right insurance in case of serious illness!

It might be a tough conversation but this is one you HAVE to listen to to protect yourself in case of illness.

CORRECTION...For every 9 breast cancer deaths, 28 survive, for every 9 pancreatic cancer deaths, 1 survive. In the interview, Bry got the stats slightly wrong.

  • 012 Being Fiercely Different in Business with Anita Phagura

In today's episode I talk to my client and friend Anita Phagura about standing out, time off social media, racial equality and being fiercly different in the world of business.

    About Anita:

Anita is an inclusivity consultant, fierce coach and passionate advocate for diverse leaders at the heart of projects - because she is done with the status quo, and knows to bring about real meaningful change we need leaders who will push the boundaries. As a project manager for over a decade in railway and construction, often the only woman in the room and only woman of colour, she heard messages of being "too much" or "not enough" - that she needed to change to fit in. What a loss of the power of difference. Now Anita coaches fierce leaders to embrace their misfit and stand strong in their own shoes whilst they create ripple effects of real change, whilst working with leaders to create cultures for belonging for business benefits. Anita has a knack for asking the hard questions that push you forward with empathy and compassion, Anita builds cultures where misfits don't have to fit in, but they can belong.

  • 011 Exploring Identity and Legacy with James Burns

In today's episode I talk to an incredible photographer, fellow Londoner and friend, James Burns. James is a powerful photographer documenting London through his work 'London from the Rooftop' and works with many clients to photograph buildings and architecture across London. We talk about the pressing issue for most business owners, how to mobilise your audience; how important identity is within your business and the power of showing up on your platforms and in person as yourself. Finally we talk about legacy. What legacy do you want to leave with your work.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on today's episode.

    About James:

James Burns is the Founder of London From the Rooftop and is on a mission to capture, communicate and celebrate the London that shaped him.

His teenage years were marked by a curiosity and fascination with his surroundings, a connection nurtured by his love for the musical culture of drum n bass that echoed round the London streets and was ‘our’ thing, a ‘London thing’.

This connection to the music and the city inspired him to go on two-wheeled excursions to far flung exotic destinations such as Lambeth, Hackney, and Stratford, just to mooch about the nooks and crannies. His journeys led through the back streets, to the housing estates, the top floors of tower blocks and eventually to the rooftops. Something compelled him to explore London’s remote aerial limits so he could build in his head his very own version of what the black cabbies call ‘The Knowledge’.

The journey started in some form in the late 1990’s but it really began to take shape in 2003 when he realised how the camera was the easiest way for him to express and document this growing connection that he felt with London. Supported by the Princes Trust through to photographing for the Olympics 2012 saw James's first exhibition of his body of work.

The mission goes on, London never stops and neither does his enthusiasm for it’s wonderful energy, diversity, architecture and culture.

I want to share with you why business owners need to find ways to decompress and get reenergised, how you can create space in your daily life to 'retreat' if going to a formal retreat isn't an option and the importance of taking a break before you break.
