ep - 46 How Sobriety Affects A Family with our guest Migs in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Welcome to The Soberoso™ Podcast where we invite guests and listeners from around the world to join us in “Sharing Our Passion For Recovery.”
If you are an old timer in recovery, a newcomer, sober curious or a loved one of someone who struggles with alcoholism, addiction or mental health issues this show is for you.
Each Tuesday we bring you a brand new episode where our grateful host Dora either shares what's on her mind or interviews a guest with Q & A’s regarding what life was like before and after finding recovery.
We are real people who have overcome incredible odds to turn our lives around and are passionate about tearing down the stigmas around alcoholism and addiction by speaking our truth and getting heard.
Migs tells us about the environment he grew up in and how drinking and drugging was present and that he swore he would never pick up a drink or drug. He was turned off by alcohol in his teenage and adolescent years but, due to some legal troubles when he turned 21 the drinking started and quickly spiraled out of control.
We talk about the different types of alcoholics from functioning, binge drinking, fall down and weekend warriors. How we tried to control our drinking and blackouts in the past and how widely acceptable drinking is.
Looking back one of the signs Migs couldn't help but notice was the amount of people that came up to him the night before his own wedding asking him to please not get or be drunk for the wedding. He thought his drinking might be a problem but he wasn't ready to tell anyone else that.
One night Migs looked into his baby son's eyes and was reminded of his own upbringing and how he didn't want his child to grow up with a drunk father around. Miguel made a decision that night that would change his path for the better. He shares his recovery journey with us and how sobriety affected his family.
Staying fit one day at a time is where Migs focuses a lot of his recovery today. You can check him out and follow him on Instagram at stayingfitodaat
