How Soon We Forget: THE PILGRIMS 40O YEARS LATER

Listen Later

During this rough season of dealing with a pandemic and a difficult election in 2020, most overlooked a most important event in regard to our history that took place in November 1620. That year, a group of 102 courageous Separatist Puritans we know as the Pilgrims, landed on Cape Cod in the New World for the "glory of God and the advancement of the Christian Faith..." according to the Mayflower Compact. This lesson covers who these Puritans were, the persecutions and hardships they endured, and their example of perseverance and faith, which can serve as an example for all of us to follow. It answers who the Puritans were, what they did, and their legacy as believers and missionaries for Christ and His Kingdom. They truly sought God's Kingdom in their time, made great sacrifices above and beyond losing half of their group after their arrival to the New World in November of 1620. They wanted to be that shining city on a hill and in many ways succeeded. The principles of Matthew 5:14-16 are not only for their time, but for ours as well. Let us be thankful and benefit from these Pilgrims - the hearty small group of faithful believers from a church located in Scrooby, England. They more than deserve to be remembered 400 years later.
