In the Slovak lesson, we’re going to learn fruit vocabulary. You will learn how to ask “Do you have bananas?” in Slovak, and give a possible answer to it. At the end of this episode, you can a dialogue for beginners.
Slovak lesson
1. banán / banány (banana / bananas)
2. čučoriedka / čučoriedky (blueberry / blueberries)
3. hrozno / hrozná (grape / grapes)
4. hruška / hrušky (pear / pears)
5. jablko / jablká (apple / apples)
6. jahoda / jahody (strawberry, strawberries)
7. malina / maliny (raspberry / raspberries)
8. melón / melóny (watermelon / watermelons)
9. pomaranč / pomaranče (orange / oranges)
10. slivka / slivky (plum / plums)
Short sentences with plural nouns and adjectives in the nominative case:
1. Banány sú zdravé. (Bananas are healthy.)
2. Čučoriedky rastú aj vo Vysokých Tatrách. (Blueberries also grow in the High Tatras.)
3. Hrušky sú veľmi sladké. (Pears are very sweet.)
4. Jahody a maliny sú červené. (Strawberries and raspberries are red.)
5. Slivky sú dobré na lekvár. (Plums are good for plum preserves.)
Sort sentences with nouns in the accusative case:
1. Chcete nejaké ovocie? (Do you want some fruit?)
2. Áno, dám si hrozno. (Yes, I will have grapes.)
3. Prosím si jablko. (Please, I would like an apple.)
4. Chcem jednú hrušku. (I want one pear.)
5. Môžem mať pomaranč? (Can I have an orange?)
Dialogue: IN A FRUIT STORE
A: Dobrý deň.
B: Dobrý deň. Čo si želáte?
A: Máte banány?
B: Áno.
A: Uhm ... Máte pomaranče?
B: Áno.
A: Uhm ... Máte melóny?
B: Áno, chcete ...
A: Nie, nie ... Máte hrozno?
B: Máme.
A: Máte biele hrozno?
B: Máme aj biele, aj čierne hrozno.
A: Uhm ... Máte slivky?
B: Áno, máme.
A: To je dobre. A máte hrušky?
B: Pravdaže máme.
A: A čo tak jablká? Máte jablká?
B: Jasné, že máme jablká. Máme červené jablká, zelené jablká, aj žlté jablká. Aké jablká si želáte?
A: Ja nechcem jablká.
B: A čo chcete?
A: Jahody.
B: Jahody?!
A: Áno, jahody. Máte jahody?
B: Jahody nemáme.
A: Aha! Vedel som to. Tento obchod nikdy nemá, čo ja chcem.
B: Och! Ste si istý?
A: Pravdaže! Minulý týždeň ste nemali banány a teraz jahody.
B: Je mi to ľúto, skúste prísť o týždeň.
A: No, dobre. Dovidenia!
B: Zbohom!
