How To Avoid Disappointment According to Epictetus

Listen Later

The stoics have a concept regarding each event and moment having 2 handles, specifically Epictetus who said:

“Every event has two handles, one by which it can be carried, and one by which it can’t.”

What this essentially means is that every moment contains within it 2 possible paths to take, the path of least resistance or the path of most resistance.

When confronted by moments that cause me to pause, I try to remind myself that 'we're all trying our best'.

With gratitude,
