How to Be a High Impact Leader Through Elevated Leadership with Ryan Gottfredson

Listen Later

Whitney Kenter the founder of Glowe Connective and I sat down with best-selling author Ryan Gottfredson last week to discuss the way business gets done!

Ryan helps leaders, executive teams, aspiring leaders, and individuals elevate (vertical development through a focus on mindsets) so that they can operate at a higher, more effective level. This is the second time I have invited Ryan to speak on my new re-branded podcast, the Glowe Accelerator podcast. Our work is very aligned and I always enjoy learning from him! I use many of his frameworks and assessments in my coaching and felt honored to have him on and to have a deeper conversation about the tools and concepts.

The first time we talked about the importance of mindsets, what they mean and how to identify what mindset lenses you have. If you have not listened to that episode yet, the link to it will be in my show notes.

This time Ryan has taken on another angle to address the obvious need to shift the conversation around what it means to be a leader during this time of work. What I love about Ryan’s work is that it is part scientific, academic, research-based and at the same time very much focuses on deeper questions that are almost philosophical in nature. What was clear to me by the end of the conversation with Ryan is that the 3.0 level leaders are few and far in between and the reasons for that are part concerning but at the same time exciting. We need to define and support leaders and people in general in creating a mind that is able to hold the shift that is happening in business. What has worked so far is not working any longer and we are ready to tackle this mission by getting clear, deep and uncomfortable in supporting leaders in elevating not only themselves but also their teams, organizations and society.

Outline:

In this episode, we talk about what it means to be an elevated leader and Ryan walks us through the framework that we will be referring to during the conversations around what it will take to transform the way business gets done.

-Framework of how leaders operate and the role of Developmental Psychology in the way we develop as adults

-What it means to “elevate” our programming

-What it means to vertically develop vs. horizontally

-Cognitive and emotional sophistication and how to widen our window of tolerance when it comes to handling difficult situations

-Giving and receiving constructive criticism

-Definitions and examples of Mind 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0

-Being a dependent thinker and what that might look like vs. an independent thinker

And MUCH more!
