I am writing this on January 2, 2024. The start of a new year is typically considered a time for fresh starts. This is when we look back over our life and identify opportunities for growth. We excitedly layout plans for accomplishing personal and professional goals.
Unfortunately, by the first of February many of us will struggle to keep the momentum going. The initial energy burst has faded and our enthusiasm begins to wane. And Just like that old habits creep back in. Six months later we find ourselves in the exact same place we were back on January 1st.

Do you ever feel a lack of purpose in your life or like something is missing?
This past week I was reminded of the pathway to purpose via a great movie.
Over the last week or two I have noticed multiple social media posts related to junior high and high school cross county. This is the time of year where seasons are wrapping up with one big final meet. All of these cross country photos inspire my wife and I to go back and rewatch the movie McFarland USA. This movie is based on the true story of a down and out high school coach that turned a group of hispanic boys into the California state high school cross country champions. If you haven’t seen this movie, I would highly recommend it. It is a story of how one man discovered his purpose in the most unlikely of places.
