This week we’re thinking about: How to build psychological safety with your team, clients, and community online and offline.Have you ever been somewhere, in person or even on the internet, at an event or in a group or zoom room or anywhere else, where you feel completely safe to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgement?That magic is created by a deep sense of psychological safety - the shared belief held by everyone in a space that others will not embarrass, reject, or punish you for speaking up or showing up as your whole authentic self.It’s not easy to find, and it definitely doesn’t exist in most workplaces. It’s what I strive for at every Dovetail summit, camp, or retreat, and in our online spaces. And today, it’s what you and I are here to learn about, so that we can build companies where complete psychological safety is the norm, where our employees and clients are loved and accepted, “Just as they are” (every time I say that I think of Mark Darcy in Bridget Jones Diary!
