How to Do an Effective Digital Detox

Listen Later

In today's frenetic world, digital detoxes are a way for us to take a step back from our devices and evaluate our relationship with technology. It can be easy to get lost in the hype of the latest social media app or the most addictive game, but it's important to remember that we're in control of how we use our devices—not the other way around. Digital detoxes are a great way to help you reclaim your time and feel more present in your day-to-day life.

But digital detoxes can be challenging as we've become accustomed to being constantly connected with those around us. Screens are highly addictive and it can be incredibly hard to separate ourselves from. In this week's episode, I sit down with Jane Bowden who is going to teach us how we can do an effective digital detox despite these challenges.

Born and raised in the Jersey Shore, Jane is a digital marketer, freelance writer, aspiring author and founder of her mental health blog, Your Friend Jane, which reaches thousands of readers across the globe. She started blogging about her ongoing journey with depression, anxiety and an eating disorder in 2016, as a way to cope, build community connection and inspire hope in others. Outside of writing, she’s passionate about reading, going for nature walks, collecting vintage cameras and taking care of her plant family.

In more detail, we discuss:

  • What digital detoxes are
  • Signs you need a digital detox
  • How technology is harmful
  • How to do an effective digital detox
  • How one can cope with being disconnected
  • And more!
