As a child, did you ever feel like nobody paid attention to you? Like you were always on the outside looking in? Like your parents were never home and your siblings were too busy with their own lives?
If so, then you may have been neglected as a child.
Children who are neglected often have trouble forming healthy relationships later in life because they don't know what it means to be loved unconditionally. They grow up feeling like nobody wants them around, and this can make them struggle with acceptance from others and themselves throughout adulthood. Without a sense of love and belonging from someone important in their lives (like a parent), it can be difficult for them to develop meaningful connections with others later on too.
So how does one heal from childhood neglect?
In this week's episode, I sit down with Teely Hopkin to discuss how one can overcome childhood emotional neglect. When Teely was two years old, she lost her mother to a car accident who was on her way to respond to an emergency call for the fire department. This left her dad to raise two very young children by himself. As a result of this, the atmosphere of the home she grew up in quickly started to change when her father remarried, and Teely found this new environment to be deeply emotionally neglectful. After going through intensive therapy in her adulthood and later joining Starts With Youth, an organization that aims to create a community that no longer shies away from conversations about trauma and abuse, Teely wants to share her story to help others who have also experienced emotional neglect in their childhood.

Trigger Warning: in this episode, we discuss Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in-depth, and may be triggering for some listeners.
PTSD is a mental health condition that can happen after someone goes through a traumatic event or ordeal. It can cause changes in your brain and body that make it hard for you to function normally. These changes can last for months or even years after the event happened, making it not only difficult to go back to normal life, but getting to where you want to be,
However, there are ways that people have learned how to live with their symptoms over time so they can still function healthily. And some even feel empowered by their diagnosis, allowing them to go on a healing journey and still go after what they want in life.
So, how can one live with PTSD?
In this week's episode, I sit down with the Co-Founder & CEO of Mira Therapeutics, CJ Internicola. Mira is dedicated to building technology that helps people recover from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and empowers therapists to deliver more robust care. The Mira App is now used by thousands of trauma survivors around the world and is available on Android and iOS.
In our conversation, CJ shares his findings and insights about PTSD throughout his time building and establishing Mira, and I also share my own journey with PTSD. In more detail, we discuss:

Starting new things is scary.
We've all been there. We know how it feels to be scared to try something new because we're afraid of failing, or we're afraid that people will think we're weird for trying something new. It's easy to stay in our comfort zones and not push ourselves out of them, but when we do push ourselves out of our comfort zones, amazing things happen.
Trying new things enables so much growth and can set us down the right path for where our lives are meant to go. We just need to keep reminding ourselves that starting something new is never easy—but it's also never permanent.
However, this mentality can be (very) challenging to adopt. Fortunately, this week on the See Me Show podcast, we get to hear from Author, Educator, and Entrepreneur, Sujaya Devi, on how we can achieve our goals and begin something new despite our fears.
Sujaya is Canadian-Indo-Trinidadian and she published her first book “Write Left” in 2017 and launched her second book, “Devi(l): poetry and prose” in 2021. Her work is inspired by culture, identity, and wellness. Sujaya is the host and producer of Our First Page, a podcast about beginnings. Sujaya works in higher education in administration and media. Sujaya is a media professor and aims to empower students at the beginning of their journeys.

You have to choose yourself.
You are the only one who can make the right choices for your life. You are the only one who can choose what kind of relationships you want to have with other people and what kind of life you want to live. If you don't choose yourself, then who will?
It is so important to choose yourself in order to live an authentic life—but it can be so challenging in this world that pressures conformity and makes you feel like you're never quite enough.
So how do you choose yourself? How do you take steps toward being your best self when everything around you is telling you that who you are or what you have to offer isn't good enough?
In this week's episode, I sit down with Feminine Embodiment Coach, Romina Lee, to learn how we can choose ourselves in the good, bad, and ugly moments. It's not easy to do—it takes courage and strength. But it comes down to us realizing that we have all this love and light waiting to be unleashed on the world—and it's up to us how much of it gets released.
About Romina
Romina is a mother of three amazing adult children and a Nonna to two adorable grandchildren. She lives in Kununurra which is in the far north of Western Australia and is a feminine embodiment coach, amongst many other talents! She has written her own Mermaid archetypes and created a program to guide and support women, plus she offers 1:1 coaching for women.
She loves supporting women to become the empowered creator of their own universe, as they rise up as the spectacular Mermaid that they were born to be. Seeing women step into their own authenticity and power lights her up and makes her heart sing with joy. A woman remembering all that she is and who she truly is, as she connects to her heart and choosing herself is a gift to herself first and foremost, and then of course the world.

Honour yourself, and you will experience more joy, happiness, and peace in your life.
Hey friend! Welcome back to the See Me Show podcast! It's been a while... but that's because I've been navigating a TON of life changes (some positive, some negative). But the combination of all these life changes lead me to this week's podcast episode topic: how to honour yourself!
Honouring yourself means taking responsibility for your thoughts and actions. It means accepting that you are a human being who makes mistakes, but not letting those mistakes define you. It means taking time to think about what you want out of life and then striving for it. It means recognizing how much power you have over your own life; it's about making sure that no one else gets to decide what happens next for you unless you agree with them first. It means taking responsibility for your own actions and reactions so that you can learn from them and grow into an even better version of yourself than before!
Honouring yourself is hard to do in this world that constantly pushes a narrative of who you should and shouldn't be. But I'm excited to share with you my story and tips on how you can navigate this challenge and prioritize yourself so you can live the life you truly want.

If you're working on weekends, answering emails at 3am, and taking work calls while in bed, this episode is for you.
It’s great to be ambitious, motivated, and hard-working. The problem is that our society takes it too far. We let our value and sense of self-worth be determined by how much money we make and how much time we spend at the office. The more hours we spend working, the better we feel about ourselves… but it's actually not good for us. We end up working ourselves into the ground until we can't work anymore.
Work addiction keeps us from experiencing passion and joy in what we have to offer for this world. Being busy, hustling, and making sure that we're always working as hard as possible is detrimental to our mental health and overall, how we experience this journey called life.
In this week’s episode, I sit down with my FIRST-EVER returning guest, Jess Takimoto, to discuss this topic. Jess is a fitness entrepreneur and strong body confidence advocate. She started her company, SHINE, 2 years ago to change the narrative around fitness, body image, and health. To date, SHINE has changed over 1,000 lives. Jess is also a Queen's Commerce graduate, Chancellor's Scholarship recipient, and CanFitPro certified fitness professional. To find out more or connect with Jess, connect with her on Instagram at @jesstakimotofitness.
Both Jess and I have experienced severe issues with work addiction. In fact, I still am! But both of us are working on how NOT to work so hard and want to share our where we are at in our journeys. In more detail, we discuss:

In today's frenetic world, digital detoxes are a way for us to take a step back from our devices and evaluate our relationship with technology. It can be easy to get lost in the hype of the latest social media app or the most addictive game, but it's important to remember that we're in control of how we use our devices—not the other way around. Digital detoxes are a great way to help you reclaim your time and feel more present in your day-to-day life.
But digital detoxes can be challenging as we've become accustomed to being constantly connected with those around us. Screens are highly addictive and it can be incredibly hard to separate ourselves from. In this week's episode, I sit down with Jane Bowden who is going to teach us how we can do an effective digital detox despite these challenges.
Born and raised in the Jersey Shore, Jane is a digital marketer, freelance writer, aspiring author and founder of her mental health blog, Your Friend Jane, which reaches thousands of readers across the globe. She started blogging about her ongoing journey with depression, anxiety and an eating disorder in 2016, as a way to cope, build community connection and inspire hope in others. Outside of writing, she’s passionate about reading, going for nature walks, collecting vintage cameras and taking care of her plant family.

What does success mean to you?
Does it mean graduating from a prestigious university? Does it mean making a six figure salary? Does it mean settling down with a partner and kids? Does it mean doing all of these things in this order?
Is this what success truly means to you, or is it what society has told you that you need to do in order to succeed?
In this week's episode, I was fortunate to sit down with Zoe Côté to discuss the concept of success and how we can define it for ourselves. At the end of the day, if we aren't pursuing what truly matters to us, we won't experience true happiness and peace... and Zoe is going to teach us how we can do just that.
After graduating with a degree in psychology and spending a year working as a journalist, Zoe decided to pursue her passion for mental and physical wellbeing by creating a community centred around self-improvement, mental health, food, and fitness.
Through platforms like TikTok, Youtube, and Instagram, she hopes to show people that leading a healthy lifestyle can be as simple and individual as you want it to be, and that finding balance is one of the most important first steps.
When she’s not cooking up new recipes or lifting weights, Zoe loves self deprecating jokes, laying on the beach, and blasting music in the car.

Personal growth is absolutely essential to live an authentic life. It allows us to engage in self-discovery and reach our goals and dreams. However, it can also be a super uncomfortable and scary process which can cause us to resist and avoid it.
In this episode, I sit down with the podcast host of the Anything We Want podcast, Axelle, to discuss how we can not only embrace growth but create opportunities for it in our lives. Axelle is a 22-year-old from France, who thrives in any creative setting. She started her podcast in 2022 as a way to step outside of her comfort zone and meet new people and engage in insightful conversations. When she's not podcasting, Axelle is drawing, painting, sewing, making stickers and jewelry, or trying out new recipes. She is still learning a lot about herself as she finishes up her schooling and is constantly opening herself up to new challenges and opportunities.
In more detail we discuss:
