Claire Fordham gives us all an amazing gift with LIFE LESSONS FOR MIA ROSE
I think one of the greatest gifts that comes with age and maturity is being able to pass on what we have learned to others in hopes that they can benefit from our experiences and maybe avoid some of the disappointment that we faced. In her book LIFE LESSONS FOR MIA ROSE author and journalist Claire Fordham gives a great gift to her granddaughter and by extension us all in a book that shares life lessons, inspiring reflections and great reminders for what it means to really live.
I love Claire's candor and her ability to make the reader laugh and even smile, while at the same time imparting some wisdom that we do well to pay attention to. One of the big lessons was learning to live life consciously, fully aware that we can make a difference but we have to decide to do that. The book also reminds us of the power and importance of family and what we should all value when it comes to those around us.
In the chapter entitled THE POINT Mia Rose is three years old at the time, and Claire shares what it's been like to realize what really matters. "I'm realizing, as I try and write an honest picture of how my life is, that while my bank account doesn't runneth over and rarely has, I do live an extraordinarily privileged life because I am, without doubt, the luckiest person I know and do attract supremely successful and wealthy people and wealthy people and amazing opportunities into my orbit..." She goes on to say: "I'm not going to lie to you, life is invariably hard for everyone at least some of the time. The important things to know are that the worst of times will pass and there's usually something positive and lessons to be learned from even our darkest days."
Full of nuggets that are sure to help you appreciate your own personal worth and value, LIFE LESSONS FOR MIA ROSE is a great gift to us all.
How immensely precious it would be to me had my grandmother left a similar tome
This book is a vigorous gift in lots of ways. . . ultimately to the authorâs grand daughter when she receives it as planned, on her 16th birthday - a book written specifically for her to have and hold. But until then, itâs a stunning example of how sheer honesty, and a willingness to expose vulnerability can create a sense of closeness and a reminder that in the end, thatâs really the most precious thing we have to share.
Simply the the idea for this book as a template for others to re-work as their own - a book about your own private life of experiences and insights, to share with your grandchild - is a gentle giant of a concept.
The reason Life Lessons for Mia Rose works so effectively is due to the authorâs willingness, even gusto, to genuinely reveal truths â be they flattering or not.
