HORRIBLE Narration
Christine Marshall's narration is absolutely intolerable!
In my decades of listening to audiobooks (since cassette days) I have never encountered a more gratingly mismatched pairing of narrator and content. Christine Marshalls reading throughout is almost laughably tonally off-key, incongruous, and peppered with persistent mispronouncing and ridiculous dramatic breathing. Having been compelled to search through this readers other work, I was not surprised to find that most of her work elsewhere fits firmly in the romance and genre fiction category - this kind of performance may be very well suited there, but NOT in the current affairs magazine.
I have subscribed to New Yorkers audio version a couple of months ago and have come to bitterly regret it as a waste of money as I am constantly forced to skip half of the weekly content unable to bear Christine Marshalls poor reading
I really hope Audible will find a decent replacement worthy of this great magazine very soon!
