It may sound counter-intuitive, but the worse time to hire is when your back is up against a wall and you're forced to. I've made this mistake more than I like to admit. The challenge with waiting till you have to hire is you may comprise some of your values to fill an immediate need. You may justify hiring someone you're not really crazy about because of need.

One of the silver linings of this pandemic is, there's never been a bigger and better pool of potential employees looking for a career right now. So even if you don't need to hire right now, there's a great opportunity out there to upgrade your team.
