How to Know the Difference Between Coaching and Counseling
When you think of a Life Coach, what is the first thing that comes immediately to your mind?
For many people, the first words they think of are: therapist, counselor or mentor.
While coaching does have it's genesis in these fields, it is very much NOT counseling, mentoring, therapy or advising!
Coaching at its core is helping people to move from where they are to where they want to be; and, Christian Life Coaching, according to Collins (2012) is helping people move from where they https://www.thecoachingtoolscompany.com/free_coaching_tools/ to where God wants them to be.
We as Coaches, do this by:
1. Partnering with our clients;
2. Asking powerful questions;
3. Listening actively, at times passively and also intuitively;
4. Respond with affirmations;
5. Allow silence for reflection and consideration
There are TONS of Life Coaches in the world however, the key differentiator here is we are Christ-centered and skilled through training and application of a faith-based model of coaching and the high-powered partnership of the Holy Spirit.
