A love story
Ben Dedrick's A LOVE PREDESTINED combines elements of tragedy, hope, and spirituality in a novel that is both emotionally searing and highly readable. While this is a love story, it's not simply a tale of romance between two people, but a dramatization of the power of real affection between lovers, husbands and wives, parents and children, and even members of a community. This deep and abiding devotion, interestingly enough, is both temporal and spiritual. The author puts many characters into play and skillfully brings them all together in surprising and rewarding ways. A nice sidelight is the obvious fondness Mr. Dedrick has for children and the way kids come to life as real people during the development of the story. I highly recommend this engaging and powerful first novel.
Outstanding and riveting read.
Ben weaves a wonderful story with well-formed characters like an artist creating a tapestry. Although pain is at the center of each of the main protagonists, this book is just as much about the process and power of redemption, and the novel pulls the reader into the lives of the people Dedrick writes about with an assuming and fluid ease. A great story told by a great storyteller. Highly recommended.
A good story!
Look forward to more stories with Grace.

THE WINNING TRY FOR THIS FIRST TIME NOVELIST!
Having heard a fellow submariner wrote a novel I thought I'd show my support. This was my first romance novel I've ever read. I'll admit I used to think I was tough. If this book doesn't make you tear up once, you may not have a soul. If a tear never falls you need to see a cardiologist. Having children changed my oyster shell exterior forever. I could visualize characters in the book so vividly, I can picture them as modern media icons and actors in the movie version. Which may be predestined IMHO. It is hard to believe this is Dedrick's first novel. Just over three hundred pages, I finished it in less than 2 days. That's how good it was. I have a stack of six books on my nightstand that I am currently reading, yet this is the first book I couldn't put down in years. Don't let the fact that it's a romance novel deter you from reading this book. There is plenty of grit even for hardened veterans and so called tough guys. Hope is alive in this book even when events seem insurmountable. Many people wouldn't make it back from some of their circumstances.
