    Narrator: Kevin Kollins

    Format: Unabridged

    Length: 5 hrs

    Language: English

    Release date: 12-26-17

    Publisher: LAK Publishing

    Genres: Nonfiction, True Crime

    Summary:

Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris, the Toolbox Killers, brought a level of terror that changed the way people carried out their daily lives. It was a time of innocence in California, where young girls could walk the streets or hitchhike along the freeways without a care or concern for their own safety, day or night. But that innocence and trust were to be shattered as five girls made the fatal mistake of accepting a ride from Bittaker and Norris.

What started as a chance meeting in prison of these terrible men resulted in a murder spree that was planned right down to the finest details. They knew the type of victims they wanted, how they were going to abduct them, and what they were going to do to them. And they did everything they could to make their depraved fantasies come true.

This true crime book includes chapters that explore the psychological make-up of these killers, and factors that may have influenced their twisted minds. How could these men inflict such horrific pain and suffering on their victims, and get away with it until five victims are left dead and scattered in a desolate canyon? What would have happened if Bittaker and Norris had never met?

These famous serial killers were organized and sexually sadistic, and were responsible for some of the most horrendous true murders involving unimaginable torture in history. This is one of those true crime stories that will make you question humanity, and look twice at those who live among us.

    Title: Infamous, Not Famous

    Author: Brian Lee Tucker

    Narrator: Richard L Walton

    Format: Unabridged

Length: 2 hrs and 33 mins

    Language: English

    Release date: 12-22-17

    Publisher: Brian Lee Tucker

    Genres: Nonfiction, True Crime

    Summary:

I am constantly amazed and somewhat bewildered by the amount of Hollywood and indie produced films that seem to glorify and sensationalize serial killers. And even placing a romantic spin on low life dirt-bags like Ted Bundy is almost too much to bear. The man almost radiated evil like a supernova. What is even more strange is, while filmmakers continue to spew out films starring handsome, normal looking men {Ted Bundy was one of the only men to fit into this category} they seem to totally ignore some of the most prolific and vicious serial killers in history.

Now don't get me wrong; I am not saying that I believe that any serial killer should be made famous for their crimes, gain celebrity status. But is has always left me totally confused as to why so many unheard of killers haven't shown up in popular media. Hell, some of these guys even have web sites dedicated to them, as well as a lot of loyal fans and followers of their crimes. Some of them even have 'groupies' who follow their favorite killer's every move, news articles, etc., in order to keep up with them. Some of these groupies have even married their favorite serial killer.

Love is truly blind, I guess. After listening to this audiobook, maybe more people will not only have a more clear view into the mind of a serial killer, but may also be as mystified as I am as to why serial killers seem to be so prevalent in popular media.

    Title: Almost Paradise

    Narrator: Danny Campbell

Length: 13 hrs and 44 mins

    Language: English

    Release date: 12-20-17

    Publisher: Brilliance Audio

    Genres: Nonfiction, True Crime

    Summary:

For the audience that read Maria Flook's New York Times bestseller, Invisible Eden, this is the extraordinary story of a high-stakes murder case set in the high society world of East Hampton - the playground of New York's superrich.

On October 22, 2001, handsome multimillionaire financier Ted Ammon was found bludgeoned to death in the magnificent East Hampton mansion he'd built with his beautiful - and volatile - wife, Generosa. She stood to make millions, but it wasn't the money that made Ted's friends suspicious: Generosa Ammon had a history of violent outbursts and bizarre obsessions.

A talented decorator, Generosa had fashioned a lavish lifestyle for her husband and their two children, divided between Fifth Avenue, the Long Island estate, and a manor house in England. But when Generosa discovered Ted had a mistress, her demons were unleashed.

She began a very public affair with Danny Pelosi, a strikingly handsome womanizer who was also her electrician. She called him her "tool belt guy." But he was also an ex-con with a mile-long rap sheet who was suspected of playing a pivotal role in Ted's murder and the final destruction of a once-perfect family.

In Almost Paradise, New York Times bestselling author Kieran Crowley, who has covered the Ammon case from the time it broke, recreates the three tumultuous lives that intersected fatally in East Hampton that fall. He tracks Generosa's lonely transformation from angry teenager - orphaned, unwanted, and abused - to temperamental Manhattan artist and Society Wife. He follows the rambunctious odyssey that transformed Danny Pelosi from banking executive's privileged son, to street fighter and down-on-his luck alcoholic, to unsuccessful contractor charged with murder. And he chronicles the charmed life and tragic death of Ted Ammon, whose money and status couldn't save him from the machinations of those around him and his ultimate brutal demise.

    Summary:

When male serial killers are on the loose, they tend to make headlines - for example, Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer. Men like these are infamous for the terror that they inflicted on the general population. Many of these men are diagnosed as psychopaths.

The reasons for them going down the paths that they chose are analysed, studied, and read about. There was a time, however, that all such crimes were always automatically linked to a man. A general perception was quite common, that there is no such thing as female serial killers and psychopaths.

In fact, female killers can sometimes be more lethal, and the murders that they commit can be just as cold and calculated as those of men. When women and men turn to murder and crime, they leave a wake of disappearances and blood in their path, a path that may be discovered after years have passed.

Now, be it male or female, analysts have sat them down and assessed their mental progress. Things have changed over the decades. Their crimes are weighed in the same scales as their male counterparts, and now they can't hide themselves by claiming to be absolutely innocent.
