    Summary:

Prepared to frightened and spooked by these genuinely scariest places on Earth! The world around us is a scary place. With danger lurking around so many corners, the threats we can explain are often easily quantified and dismissed. Rather, it is the unexplainable, the paranormal, and the strange which present the biggest threats to our psychological well-being. All across the planet, certain places and buildings have come to represent these abnormal and unexplainable phenomena. From ghosts to genocides, brutal murders to witches' covens, these locations are both hyper-specific and universal. In almost every town, village or city, there is often an area where people are wary. A certain building people say is haunted or a home they know has a particularly gruesome past. People might warn children to stay away. These buildings might form the backbone of some local folklore, or they might actually be condemned and restricted to the public. In these buildings our imaginations run riot and we wonder what could be possibly be lurking down the long, dank, and dark corridors. But not all of these places are created equal. In this book, we will examine some of the most terrifying, strange, bizarre, odd and depressing places on earth. These might be haunted homes or the resting place of a murderous maniac. Some have been created by the evils of modern man while others are tributes to ancient and dark mysteries we still struggle to explain. The one thing they share is their ability to chill you to the bone. But as you work through this list, the true extent of humanity's capacity to imagine the horrific should not be underestimated. When you are ready to learn about some of the worst places in the world, like the island of the doll in Mexico, the Paris catacombs, the Hell Fire Club in Ireland, the Ridges in the USA and much more...just download your copy today!

    Summary:

Prepare yourself for a walk through history as you will meet many seasoned ghosts from the past that have been haunting communities for centuries. You are about to meet quite a number of ghosts from all over the country and they will change your views on life and death.

It couldn't be that all souls remain here after they die or else our streets would be lined with the souls of our dearly departed and ghostly pranks and other inexplicable occurrences would not be so unusual at all.

It may also be fascinating for some after they realize that it is not only the souls of humans that can be ghosts. Look at the Hell Dogs of Eldorado, the legend of the Coyote de la Muerte and even the horse in Texas' Headless Horseman. They were all animals and they too got trapped here without the sweet release of moving on to the other side.

Have you ever thought about what could happen if we humans could find a way to keep our loved ones here and prevent them from moving on? What do you think, wouldn't you want to see your loved ones one more time, even if they had no bodies?

Ireland has a rich folklore. Everyone knows about the fairy folk and leprechauns and many have heard of the fearsome banshee. There are also the usual ghost stories found in every old land. The stranger side of the Emerald Isle goes much deeper than that, however, with tales of phantom armies marching through the sky, sea monsters swimming in the waters around the island, and stories of strange powers and dark magic.

Indeed, these tales are not consigned to the past; many unexplained occurrences continue to happen, even today. Here is a sampling of some of Ireland's odder aspects. Hopefully, it will inspire listeners to learn more about Ireland's mysterious past and unusual present, and perhaps get them to visit Ireland themselves.

Weird Ireland: A History of Ancient Mysteries, Fantastic Folklore, and Urban Legends Across the Emerald Isle is part of an ongoing series by Sean McLachlan and Charles River Editors that includes Weird Scotland, Mysterious London, and more. This book offers a sampling of strange, unexplained, and just plain odd stories from Ireland that have fascinated people in and around the region for centuries.

Length: 3 hrs and 51 mins

    Language: English

    Release date: 02-22-17

    Publisher: RJ Parker Publishing Inc.

    Genres: Nonfiction, True Crime

    Summary:

Warning: Contains explicit language and graphic descriptions of extreme sexual violence and depravity that some may find highly disturbing.

The story of Richard Cottingham, the "Times Square Ripper" or "Times Square Torso Killer", one of America's most sadistically depraved serial killers.

A shocking case of unbridled sex, sadism, prostitution, porn, singles bars, date-rape drugs, abduction, bondage, handcuffs, duct tape, torture, sexploitation, perverted paraphilic fetishes, serial killing, and dismemberment on New York's notorious Times Square and the Forty-Deuce in the 1970s.

Historian Peter Vronsky describes his brief encounter with serial killer Cottingham in a seedy New York hotel in 1979 that later inspired him to write his best-seller history Serial Killers: The Method and Madness of Monsters. In Times Square Torso Ripper, Vronsky explores the history of the notorious Forty-Deuce strip on 42nd Street near Times Square and how it spawned the sadistic monster Richard Cottingham in an era before the term "serial killer" had been coined in popular culture.

Renowned serial homicide expert Dr. Robert D. Keppel said of Richard Cottingham, "I kept asking myself what it was that ultimately intrigued me about the Cottingham case. Partly it was the level of sadistic torture that Cottingham acted out on his victims. He didn't kill them and desecrate their bodies; he forced them to experience pain and humiliation before he killed them. Then he desecrated their bodies."

Title: Jack the Ripper and the Whitechapel Murders

Author: Zed Simpson, Charles River Editors

    Narrator: Scott Clem

    Format: Unabridged

Length: 1 hr and 26 mins

    Language: English

    Release date: 02-22-17

    Publisher: Charles River Editors

    Genres: Nonfiction, True Crime

    Summary:

When one hears the term Victorian, many images come to mind. For some, the term conjures up visions of lace and gloves and delicate fans. Others think of tight corsets and even tighter morals. Others, swayed perhaps by one too many British costume dramas, envision gentle elegance and long lost beauty.

Naturally, few people think of multiple dead bodies cast about in the streets or dark bedrooms, most mutilated to a shocking degree, and yet, those tragic images played a significant role not only in late Victorian London but ever since. In 1888 and 1889, a killer stalked the dark backstreets of the city through the notoriously overcrowded and crime-ridden Whitechapel district, murdering young women and then cutting their bodies up like a butcher.

As is so often the case with a serial killer, the first murder was largely ignored. She was a "fallen woman", a prostitute barely worthy of police notice. But then there was another victim, killed and butchered while plying her illicit trade. The police took notice and, by the time the third body was found, also mutilated and filleted like a fish, the public took notice too. An outcry began to swell from the good people of the city who, though willing to overlook a prostitute dying in the streets of alcohol poisoning or a venereal disease, were disconcerted by idea of a mass murderer. Then came two victims found in one day, and a feeling that, if the killer remained on the loose, there was nothing to stop him from seeking victims anywhere, even in the nice suburban neighborhoods of the rising middle-class. As more victims turned up, terror spread throughout the city, and it even became news across the globe, but then the murders seem to have ended just as quickly as they began.

There have been a countless number of serial killers throughout history, and certainly more prolific ones, but the timing, circumstances, and unsolved nature of the case continue to make Jack the Ripper the most famous serial killer in history. The intense media coverage trained the spotlight on local police, who interviewed thousands and considered hundreds of suspects, and it likely played a role in both the actual murderer and would-be copycats and pranksters sending hundreds of letters to police claiming to be Jack the Ripper. It's also indisputable that the use of a precise modus operandi, the serial killer being given a nickname, and the taunting letters sent to police all influenced subsequent serial killers and the way they were covered. Whether it's the Zodiac Killer, the Son of Sam, or the Boston Strangler, the antecedent of all 20th century and 21st century serial killers remains Jack the Ripper.

The Jack the Ripper case continues to fascinate historians and amateur sleuths so much that people have dubbed themselves Ripperologists, and since nobody knows for sure who the killer was, every aspect of the crimes is up for discussion, down to who the actual victims of the Ripper were and whether there was actually more than one Ripper. In addition to considering so many suspects, the police were only certain that five of the victims (the "canonical five") were killed by Jack the Ripper, but there were at least 11 documented murders over the course of several years, and today those are called the Whitechapel murders.

    Language: English

    Release date: 02-17-17

    Genres: Nonfiction, True Crime

    Summary:

Brother Blood lives in a place where shadows come out after the sun goes down, and they don't come out to play. There are old folks in his building that draw social security checks that eat dog food and winos mark their territory like dogs, pissing in the stairwells. A scream from that building is routinely dismissed as anxiety. And a majority of the folks that lived there were white. As Brother Blood sat at his window looking down on the streets below, he couldn't help but wonder, is there any justice? Righteous, glamorous, proper justice. Is it about vengeance? Righteous vengeance? Or is about just about...righting the wrongs? Who's to say? Brother Blood, that's who. In this world of chaos, maybe he can create a small circle of peace, if only for a moment. But to do that he will need big guns. On December 7, 1993, Colin Ferguson decided to ignite his own race war and started firing at white people on the Long Island Commuter Train. His rampage left six dead and several injured. Colin defended himself at his trial claiming that he was the victim of a racist conspiracy.
