If you are having trouble contacting a coach that you want to get a hold of consider this:
(Assuming you just graduated your sophomore year and are going into Jr. year.
If you are not a US National team kid or playing for an MLS academy and are trying to contact UCLA, Wake Forest, Michigan, Maryland, and other top 25 schools they are likely to never respond, and if they do it will be to come to their camp.
If you want to get seen by those schools then the only choice you have is the camp.
Yes, the camp will cost money, but if you impress you could be considered. Walk on’s have gone on to have great careers and they often did not even go to camp, they just tried out.
All that said my suggestion to you is:
Narrow down your choices to 15 schools
5 D1
5 D2
5 D3
Create an excel sheet with when the camps are to all of those teams. Have all the dates laid out in front of you so you can determine which camps you can feasibly go to. They will overlap.
Then once you have decided which you want to go to. Begin e-mailing and calling! Yes call!
Explain who you are, who you play for, if you know anyone that they may also know, (mutual acquaintances can be so helpful) and explain you will be attending the camp and look forward to meeting them.
Add in your game schedule as well.
If you are lucky they will be ready it see you coming to their camp, enjoy your highlight video, and then come to a game of yours before the camp because they know you are invested in them they will be more likely to invest in you.
Then if they see you in a game and then see you at camp this is often enough for them to offer a spot.
I have templates of how to call, and e-mail. If you would like to book a session with me to create your customized plan be sure to reach out.
If I believe you are of the college level I will reach out to college coaches on your behalf, but for this, I am quite particular, but feel free to send me your video.
I have helped clients that way through this podcast.
