Season 7 - Episode 5
Khwai is one of the most popular destinations for travelers staying at Semowi and for good reason. Located about 3.5 to 4 hours from camp, it offers excellent wildlife viewing and a true wilderness experience on the edge of the Okavango Delta.
There are two main ways to reach Khwai. The first route passes through Moremi Game Reserve and requires payment of park entry fees. The second route travels through the community areas outside the reserve and does not require park fees. While many travelers assume one route is easier than the other, the reality is that both have similar driving challenges. Deep sand, rough tracks, and seasonal water or mud can be encountered on either route, making a proper 4x4 vehicle essential.
In this episode, we explore the different ways to reach Khwai, what to expect on the road, and why this region has become one of Botswana's favorite safari destinations.
