How to react when someone insults you? Practically speaking it's not easy to reply such person. Are we willing to forgive and forget? Let us ask God for help. Don't forget to discuss this topic with your priest (spiritual director) and receive sacraments as much as you can.

This advice is taken from the book Imitation of Mary - by Alexander de Rouville, revised and edited by Matthew J. O’Connell, Imprimatur James P. Mahoney, D. D. Vicar General, Archdiocese of New York (I just found out that this book was originally written by Thomas A Kempis).
