This semester “How to Ruin Dinner” will explore the influence and history of African Americans on religion and society, and we begin with Dr. Keith Cartwright. His work Sacral Grooves and Limbo Gateways takes us from the shores of Senegal to the Sea Islands of Georgia and the Caribbean. He explains how African spiritual “travels’, particularly Ring Shouts and Limbo Dancing shape the way in which enslaved people practice Christianity.
