Welcome back to the third season of the How to Save Your Vacation Rental Business podcast. After our podcast conversations and a research deep dive, we've developed a comprehensive, printable scorecard which we are excited to share with you.
In this episode, we are privileged to host Tim Rosolio, the Vice President of Vacation Rental Partnerships at Expedia Group. Tim shared critical insights on our journey so far and guided us in the last phase of our scorecard project.
Moreover, we investigated the role of Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) in supporting and advocating for partners and hosts. From his personal perspective as a vacation rental owner in Lake Travis, Texas, Tim has not only local advocacy knowledge, but a global OTA perspective.
Don't miss our season's finale next week, featuring Jamie Lane of AirDNA where we will critically analyze our final scorecard draft, delve into advanced advocacy issues, and reveal a downloadable version of the scorecard. Stay tuned!

Hilton Head Island was conceived as a vacation destination, and rental homes have been a part of that vision since the beginning. Now, a small minority is reshaping the landscape, and Dru Brown and his colleagues find themselves at the center of a real advocacy fight. In this episode, we explore how things got out of hand in the land of golf, tennis, and pickleball and how a different kind of scorecard can prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future. Drew also takes us through how what he's learned on the island can be applied at a national level through the VRMA.

Shelby Fletcher is the president of the The Dallas Short Term Rental Alliance...a very well organized advocacy group with more than 800 members focused on achieving fair, lasting regualtions in the Dallas area. They've faced years of delay, tough anti groups and backroom politics but they're making headway and the next step may be to bring in professional political help. At the same time, efforts are underway to create a statewide premption bill in Texas for Short Term Rentals, which would make Shelby's life a lot easier. In this episode we take a granular look at the local effort and think about ways to score a destination where the statewide question is still up in the air.
