grać – to play

podobno – apparently / people say

You’ll hear simple, everyday Polish used to talk about:

sports and games (grać w piłkę, grać w szachy)

weekend plans (Co robisz w niedzielę?)

weather in Poland (Podobno jutro będzie minus 20)

and sharing information you’re not 100% sure about (Słyszałem, że podobno…)

Podobno Mike gra na gitarze.

Słyszałem, że podobno lubisz grać w piłkę.

Podobno jutro będzie bardzo zimno.

We also explain how podobno is used in real life — when you repeat something you heard, but you’re not completely sure it’s true.
