In the last episode I talked about the customs and traditions on Juraj’s day in Slovakia. Today I want to talk about some spring customs and traditions that were celebrated in the beginning of May. In the Slovak lesson, you are going to learn some ordinal numbers and practice using them in short sentences. And just for fun, I will teach you how to say “First of May” in Slovak. 1.     prvý, prvá, prvé (first)
2.     druhý, druhá, druhé (second)
3.     tretí, tretia, tretie (third) exception! -í at the end! for masculine gender
4.     štvrtý, štvrtá, štvrté (fourth)
5.     piaty, piata, piate (fifth)
6.     šiesty, šiesta, šieste (sixth)
7.     siedmy, siedma, siedme (seventh)
8.     ôsmy, ôsma, ôsme (eighth)
9.     deviaty, deviata, deviate (ninth)
10. desiaty, desiata, desiate (tenth)

Short sentences in Nominative
1.     Dnes je prvý máj. (Today is the first of May.)
2.     Moja dcéra bola prvá v súťaži. (My daughter was first in a competition.)
3.     To je môj druhý dom. (This is my second house.)
4.     To tretie okno napravo je moje okno. (That third window on the right is my window.)
5.     To je tvoja štvrtá sestra? (Is that your fourth sister?)
6.     Náš syn končí piaty semester štúdia. (Our son is finishing the fifth semester of the study.)

Short sentences in Accusative
1.     Potrebujem prvú pomoc. (I need the first aid.)
2.     Prosím si druhý pohár. (Please, can I have the second glass.)
3.     Nechcem robiť tretiu skúšku. (I don’t want to do the third exam.)
4.     To je už štvrté rozbité zrkadlo. (That is already the fourth broken mirror.)
5.     Mám rada piatý deň v týždni. (I like the fifth day of the week.)
