Slovak lesson
Verb rozumieť- to understand:
Singular:
1. rozumel som (I understood - m.), rozumela som (f.)
2. rozumel si (you understood - m.), rozumela si (f.)
3. rozumel (he understood - n.)
rozumela (she understood - n.)
rozumelo (it understood - n.)
Plural:
1. rozumeli sme (we understood)
2. rozumeli ste (you understood)
3. rozumeli (they understood)
Verb vedieť- to know:
Singular:
1. vedel som (I knew - m.), vedela som (I knew – f.)
2. vedel si (you knew – m.), vedela si (you knew – f.)
3. vedel (he knew - n.)
vedela (she knew – n.)
vedelo (it knew – n.)
Plural:
1. vedeli sme (we knew)
2. vedeli ste (you knew)
3. vedeli (they knew)
Do not confuse this verb vedieť- to know with the verb vidieť- to see!
Verb vidieť- to see:
Singular:
1. videl som (I saw - m.), videla som (I saw – f.)
2. videl si (you saw – m.), videla si (you saw – f.)
3. videl (he saw - n.)
videla (she saw – n.)
videlo (it saw – n.)
Plural:
1. videli sme (we saw)
2. videli ste (you saw)
3. videli (they saw)
Verb myslieť- to think:
Singular:
1. myslel som (I thought - m.), myslela som (f.)
2. myslel si (you thought – m.), myslela si (f.)
3. myslel (he thought - n.)
myslela (she thought – n.)
myslelo (it thought – n.)
Plural:
1. mysleli sme (we thought)
2. mysleli ste (you thought)
3. mysleli (they thought)
Short conversation:
A: Ahojte, chalani. Videli ste ten futbal včera v telke?
B: Videl som, bol to dobrý zápas. Ale nevyhrali sme.
A: Presne tak! Nevyhrali sme. Bol to veľmi zlý zápas.
C: Ja som to nevidel. Nevedel som, že sme mali hrať včera.
A: Čože? Veď som ti o tom poslal SMS-ku.
C: Videl som tvoju SMS-ku, ale nerozumel som jej.
A: Nerozumel?
C: Myslel som, že sa zápas hrá dnes.
