Besides writing for Huffington Post and Thought Catalog, her professional career advice has appeared in the New York Post, MSNBC.com, Monster.com, AboveTheLaw.com, and numerous other websites.Offline, Carlota leads entrepreneurship seminars for women and minorities, and teaches artists to become successful business owners through professional development workshops, at CUNY, the NY Public Library, Indiana University and Queens Council on the Arts. She is currently developing a summer 2015 workshop for General Assembly, and is in talks with Freelancers Union to host a live edition of her small business podcast, “No Frills Small Business.”A prolific speaker and writer, Carlota will be coaching attendees at July's BlogHer2015 Conference on building a brand through Google+. Earlier this year, she moderated a panel on “Career Building through Social Media: the New Reality for Budding Female Artists and Professionals,” at Social Media Week NYC 2015.
Before starting her business, Carlota worked in the theater and TV news. Her first play, “Man at His Best,” won the 1991 Young Playwrights Festival, and has since been produced off-Broadway, and around the world. As an assignment editor/producer for CNN, FOX, NBC and ABC News, Carlota covered breaking news stories in Russia, Washington, D.C. and NYC. Her beats included the Kremlin, the White House and Capitol Hill. She also took part in the coverage of news stories as diverse and captivating as Monica Lewinsky, Elian Gonzalez, and 9/11. A native New Yorker, fluent in Russian, Carlota is a graduate of Wellesley College. She received her law degree from Indiana University-Bloomington Maurer School of Law.
