Network Marketing Success | It Starts with MindsetI say this a LOT… you can have all the SKILLS in the world, but with the wrong mindset you won’t get any traction.
Ray Higdon has said, frustration is the gap between where you think you are, and where you think you should be. I think a lot of people experience frustration in network marketing because they join with unrealistic expectations of how much time and how much effort it will take to reach their business goals…. And they don’t take time to recognize the small wins they’ve already experienced. In other words, the gap between where they think they are and where they think they should be is HUGE — and all too often that gap is what drives people to quit their business.
That’s why the first thing you need to know if you want to talk your way to network marketing success is how to manage your expectations.We’ve all heard the stories. A new team member joins the business, asks 2 friends to join their business, both say no, and the new team member quits. Their results did not match their expectations. They were disappointed. And it cost them, big time.
In order to talk your way to network marketing success you need to temper your expectations and face the reality that there is a price to pay for your success.
You will face rejection. No matter how good you get, you’re never going to hear YES 100% of the time. You will hear no… and if you want to be successful, you’d better be prepared to hear no a lot!
The people at the top of their network marketing business who have achieved great network marketing success have heard NO more than anyone else. Why? Because they talked to more people than anyone else! And NO is simply part of the process.
Did you know the same year Babe Ruth set the record for the most home runs, he also set the record for the most strike outs?If you want to hit a home run, you’ve got to be willing to step up to the plate and swing. You have to swing a lot… and you have to be okay with striking out more often than hitting a home run.
Most people struggle in network marketing because they simply aren’t stepping up to the plate enough.
In fact, I would venture to say that 95% of the people who struggle with their network marketing business are simply not talking to enough people.
In order to get his 714 home runs, Babe Ruth stepped up to bat 8,339 times. And he struck out almost twice as often as he hit a home run… over 1300 times!
Bill Britt, one of the most successful distributors in Amway, was once asked the secret to his success. Do you want to know what he said?
“There is no secret. I simply showed the plan to 1200 people. 900 said, ‘No’ and only 300 signed up. Out of those 300, only 85 did anything at all. Out of those 85 only 35 were serious, and out of those 35, 11 made me a millionaire.”
The top earner in Mannatech enrolled 27 people into his business his first month. But guess how many people he talked to in order to enroll that many? 2000!
Network Marketing Leader Mark Yarnell invited 200 people over to his home for his business launch… out of those 200 invites only 70 showed up. And out of the 70 who attended, only 13 enrolled. And out of the 13 who enrolled, only 1 stayed in the business long term.
But guess what. That one person went on to create a massive organization, and that one leadership leg earned Mark Yarnell over $50,000 a month.
Just like hitting home runs, talking your way to network marketing success is a numbers game. Network Marketing Success | What Are Your Intentions?I see it all the time,
“How can I convince someone to buy my products?” “How can I get someone to enroll in my business?” “How can I persuade someone to do _______?”
I want to tell you a story Darren Hardy shared in his book, The Entrepreneur Roller Coaster. Darren Hardy is an author, speaker, coach and the former editor in chief of Success Magazine. He truly is one of THE most successful people I know… so when he talks, I listen.
In his book he shares a story about a time when he was first getting started in his real estate business. One day he was having lunch with one of his mentors, complaining about his latest sales numbers. He simply wasn’t experiencing the level of success he desired, or felt he deserved.
His mentor asked to see his list of prospects, so Darren pulled a few worn pieces of paper out of his briefcase and handed them over. On the sheets of paper were the names and contact information of his prospects. And across the top, in thick black marker he had written the phrase, “Hit List.”
His mentor took one look at the paper and handed it back to Darren Immediately. “I see what the problem is,” he said.
Darren sat with bated breath, anxious to hear what his mentor would say. Were there too few prospects on the list? Did he not have the right information written down? Was he not being aggressive enough?
This is what his mentor had to say:
“Let me ask you this: If i had a list like this and your name was on it and you saw it… how would you feel? How would you feel about being on my hit list? About being in my sights like you were looking at me from the barrel of a loaded gun?”
Darren continues; “I quickly closed the folder and shrugged like a kid being chastised for skipping school. “No one wants to be your next hit, Darren,” his mentor said, “They don’t want to be your next victim. And when you label them that way, you THINK of them that way. And when you think of people that way, you treat them that way. They know it and they feel it. They can tell.”
His mentor then pulled a pen from his pocket, reached over, crossed out the words Hit List, and with a fast and steady hand wrote, “Families I’m Going to Help.”
Darren immediately began to see a difference in how he approached people, and more important, in how they responded. Before picking up the phone and he would look at his list and think about who he was calling. What was their pain? And how could he provide a solution?
His sales numbers show up, and best of all… he actually started to have FUN prospecting and selling.
His mentor didn’t change his pitch… his script… or his approach. What he changed was his intention.
Do you want to talk your way to network marketing success?Do you want to sell more products?
Stop selling.
Do you want to enroll more teammates?
Stop recruiting.
Don’t Sell. Don’t Recruit. Don’t GET.
GIVE.
And even when you give… you must do so without your own agenda! It’s not about what you want… or what you think or what you believe. It’s not about you at all.

No sales pitch, no agenda. Just say Hi. I saw those pictures of your daughters dance recital and just had to tell you how adorable they were! We haven’t talked in forever… how have you been?
It doesn’t have to be a phone call. In fact, I usually reach out to people through social media or text message! And I’ll admit… this was a habit I had to really work to put into my own life, and still have to continue to work on! It’s not something that is natural for me, so I have to be intentional about reaching out to people every day.

And to take that a step further, in network marketing, people join LIFESTYLE.
And as Simon Sinek says, they don’t buy what you do… they buy WHY you do it!
Since my primary focus is to help you use the internet to create a lifestyle of freedom through your network marketing business, let’s dive in and talk social media.What are your social media posts saying about you, about your business and about what your business is doing for you and your family?
Are you constantly posting sales pitches and promotions?
Are you negative and complaining in your posts?
Are you argumentative?
Or are you putting out an image of inspiration, positivity, gratitude and lifestyle?
Here’s the thing: in order to be attractive to your prospects on social media and talk your way to network marketing success, you need to be the person whose posts they WANT to see… not the person whose posts they go out of their way to avoid.
How do you do this? Here’s a quick tip on how to use your social media content to talk your way to network marketing success:Grab a piece of paper and a pen and write down the top-5 things you care about, are passionate about or stand for.
Family… health… spirituality… service… sports… success… inspiration… motivation… friends… entrepreneurship… travel… impact… personal growth.
Think about your hobbies… your interests… think about what you LOVE to talk about.
Then, talk about those things.
Think about the things your business is doing for you… and post about those things!
Did you receive a gift from your upline or qualify for a cool incentive inside your primary company? Fantastic! Post it! Did your business allow you to be able to attend your child’s school party… or help you cut back on your hours so you can be home in time to tuck them into bed? Post about it! Post about the BENEFITS of your business, but
Don’t post sales pitches.
Don’t post product discounts.
Don’t posts links to your website or screenshots of your latest check.
If you’re going to build your business and through social media, and honestly… this day in age I believe EVERYONE should, then your golden rule is if it isn’t positive, don’t post it!Social media gives the average person a voice and a platform unlike any we’ve ever had in the past. This can be a good thing, and it can also be used to shoot yourself in the foot! If you’re running your business through social media then just save those frustrations and rants for another time and place.
So… if you’re not supposed to post sales or promotions or pitches on your social media accounts, does that just mean people are going to be reaching out to you left and right to buy your stuff and join your business?
Absolutely not!
You must reach out to people, but let me tell you a secret:
If you are consistently posting positive, uplifting content and sharing the benefits of what you do, people will be 10x more receptive to what you’re offering than when you are trying to use your social media account like a giant billboard!
And if you cultivate the habit of routinely reaching out to 2-3 people a day just to say hi… you know, cultivate the habit of actually networking and building relationships… your results will be magnified infinitely more!
