How to snore
I found this audio book terribly boring. The author instructs you to obsess over so many minute details that you would almost certainly die of a coronary if you followed each of them. A more accurate title for this book would be "How to obsess over EVERY possible detail when speaking, presenting and interviewing until you have nervous breakdown".
I was constantly wishing she would move on, move on, please move on...but she just kept describing each grain of sand over and over again. As with any book, you are bound to find some useful information, which I certainly did in this one. It's just the fact that you have to endure a painful amount of minutia before getting to anything noteworthy. Once you do, you'll be so bored stiff that you wont care. I have to give it to her though, I was wowed in the end. I thought wow, I can't believe I bought this, and wow, I can't believe I listened to the entire thing. I guess I wanted my money's worth.
This is my first written review after 20 plus good books on Audible. I just felt compelled to warn others after taking one for the team.
Concise, Simple, Very Useful.
Valuable information for any reader looking to improve their communication skills. Highly recommended for those in the business of conveying ideas and creating influence.
good guide to communicating effectively
What I like about this book is that it covers so many aspects of self presentation. Even if all the ideas don't suit everyone I think there is enough substance to allow for adaption and personal interpretation. I think the idea of colour as a tool for connecting is interesting and gives food for thought. I'm a lecturer and doing my best to inspire students is of critical importance. I've read several books on public speaking and I rate this as one of the best. In contemporary life getting on so often involves positive self projection that learning all you can about it is definitely worthwhile. This book is a good all round read.
