Keep Pushing!

On the back cover it says, "In our extroverted business culture, introverts can feel excluded, overlooked, or misunderstood..." When I read that, I *knew* I had to read this book. It aptly described many of the experiences I've had in my professional career and in my personal life.

The 4 P's Kahnweiler describes (Prepare, Presence, Push, Practice) seem so fundamental, you'll wonder why you didn't think of them on your own. However, in her book, she goes on to describe specific applications of the 4 P's (in meetings or when managing projects, for example) that help firmly cement the concepts so they are more than a logical abstraction.

After reading this book, it was clear to me that I'd done a good job on the first two P's (Prepare and Presence), but I had become complacent. I wasn't really growing professionally or personally and had been wondering why. Now I knew: it was because I was afraid to step out of my comfort zone.

Since then I've been concentrating on the "third P" by pushing myself in many new directions. For example, a HUGE "push" for me was that I recently took a series of Improv classes.

Increase Your Teamâs Productivity

Right from the introduction of Laura Stackâs latest book, you get the feeling that youâre behind the

wheel of a race car at a NASCAR event. The tips and techniques come fast and furiously as you speed

around the track. Although odd to say about a business book, the writing actually captures the mood of

the authorâs goal: to speed teams of employees (not just individuals) along to increased productivity.

The book focuses on four keys to productivity: 1) Fairness 2) Accountability 3) Systems-Thinking 4)

Technology. My favorite section: âSystems-Thinkingâ! As a salesperson and consultant in and out of

corporations for most of my career and as a volunteer serving in nonprofits, Iâve observed this as the

biggest weakness for corporations. Teams often bog down in their systems: They fail to consider the

long-term consequences of short-term actions.

Under the four âkeys,â the book addresses many topics: What to do with the toxic teammate. What to

put on your Not-To- Do list. How to take the initiative when your meeting facilitator fails. How to decide

Since I am a professional meeting facilitator, I was particularly impressed with how she broke down the elements of team productivity into four FAST keys - each with three accelerators. There's a quick test to take to assess your team's productivity - and then you can use the book as a training guide or "owner's manual" into accelerating the performance of the team.

It's written in such a way that the team can take one key or even one accelerator and drive performance around it - assign the pages to read, then discuss as a team what they are doing well and what they can do better.

Highly recommended

I would suggest reading this book first. Interior Design is not as easy as they show it on TV. Trust me on this. I've fixed and flipped close to 100 houses.

Super guide

I can honestly say that this is the most comprehensive book on the subject that I have ever seen that's specifically written with the homeowner in mind. Well done.

Good book

A novel but effective approach

When I agreed to write an honest review in exchange for a copy of Merrick Rosenberg's "The Chameleon" I had no idea what to expect. Upon glancing at it I became aware that it had to do with personality types and how people of different types can learn to work effectively. At first I was a bit skeptical of the approach taken by the author. The book consists of a series of "fables," vignettes that feature four different species of birds, each of which represents a personality type. The first bird is Ivory the parrot. She is fun-loving, sociable, and lives in the moment. At the opposite extreme is Carl the owl, who is scheduled and organized and seemingly does everything by the book. These two are like oil and water, in that Carl cannot abide Ivory's almost total lack of a schedule and her unwillingness to follow instructions to the letter. Dee, the eagle, is the broad-picture person. Like Carl, she wants things done her way, but unlike Carl, she is not detail oriented but instead is often grandiose. Finally, Simon the dove is kindhearted and others-centered, concerned with the welfare of those around him. Along with these four birds are two chameleons, Xenia, the teacher, and her student, Xandu. From time to time they step into the conflicts that arise between these birds and impart understanding of how these birds can solve their conflicts by better understanding each other.

Altogether there are some 20 fables, classified by seasons of the year. At first I wasn't sure that the author would be able to impart any really serious insight through this approach. But as I read through a few of them I began to see how cleverly Rosenberg has woven in the lessons he wants to impart. And before long I started recognizing myself and others in the interactions between these birds.

Bring Your Sales Game to the Next Level

Having great selling skills can take you a long way in the business world. However, many salesmen are constantly making the same mistakes over and over again. This book eliminates the fluff and gives a good summary of Pre-Suasion which will give you easy to understand tips and lessons to help improve your skills to the next level.

Not really worth it

This booklet is not worth the $9.49 I paid for it. There are a lot of awkward phrases, grammar mistakes and poor typesetting. A company called Billionaire Mind Publishing should live up to the image they are trying to convey. I would rather spend the additional money required for the full book.

Great piece of work

Great piece of work ... covers all the bases in setting the stage for effective influence. Solid foundation for personal development or guiding the development of others who rely on influence to fulfill their goals and ambitions ... and who doesn't?

Being in the competitive medical sales industry, I'm always looking for ways to improve my performance and attract new customers. This book caught my attention, and must admit that I was surprised at how effective the methods discussed can be utilized in the real world. As a businessman I'm always wanting to look for new and fresh ideas, and with this 30 minute short read, I recommend this book for anyone wanting to take the next step in their professional or personal life. Easy to read. Highly recommend.
