Sounding Forth – 1 Thessalonians 1:8-10
· The Extension of the Gospel (vs. 8)
o Not only were the Thessalonian believer’s examples, but they were also the source of Gospel proclamation wherever their faith was spoken of.
o It was not the Apostles declaring this message, but rather the testimony of the Thessalonian believer’s lives which was spreading.
· The Content of their Testimony (vs. 9-10)
o The genuine reception of the message and messengers despite affliction.
o The transformational conversion leading to abandonment of idols and service of the Lord.
o The expectant purpose that motivated perseverance and readiness.
