Why This Lesson Matters: In the book of Revelation, Christ, the “slaughtered
lamb”—who was sacrificed for the sins of the world and lifted to the throne of
God—is worthy of praise and honor forever.

to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by the
blood out of the every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation. (Revelation

III. Historical/Biblical Background and Lesson Context
Revelation (Greek: apokalupsis; meaning “to take the cover off” or “an
unveiling”) is the title of the Bible’s last book. John is identified as its author. He
composed “The Revelation” in the first century AD near the end of Domitian’s
reign as Rome’s emperor. Primarily, the book of Revelation is about Jesus Christ
and records messages, prophecies, and visions shared with John to show believers
things to occur in the end times, while encouraging them to repent and remain
faithful. The overarching theme of this book is Christ’s return to defeat evil and
establish His kingdom. Revelation is unique because it is the only bible book that
provides ists structural outline: “Write therefore, what you have seen” Rev. 1:19
NIV), what is now (Rev. 2—3), and what will take place later”(Rev. 4—22).
IV. Prominent Character(s) in the Lesson
Four living creatures: angelic beings around the throne who worship Jesus.
John: a former fisherman who became ne of the beloved disciples of Jesus and is
credited with writing 1, 2, and 3 John and the book of Revelation.
Lamb: This precious title is recorded twenty-eight times in the book of
Revelation in reference to Jesus, who sacrificed His life for humanity.
Strong angel: one of the chiefs of the angelic host.
Twenty-four elders: thought to be church representatives around heaven’s throne.

15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Aaron and His Sons Consecrated
29 “And this is what you shall do to them to hallow them for ministering to Me as priests: Take one young bull and two rams without blemish, 2 and unleavened bread, unleavened cakes mixed with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil (you shall make them of wheat flour). 3 You shall put them in one basket and bring them in the basket, with the bull and the two rams.
4 “And Aaron and his sons you shall bring to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, and you shall wash them with water. 5 Then you shall take the garments, put the tunic on Aaron, and the robe of the ephod, the ephod, and the breastplate, and gird him with the intricately woven band of the ephod. 6 You shall put the turban on his head, and put the holy crown on the turban. 7 And you shall take the anointing oil, pour it on his head, and anoint him. 8 Then you shall bring his sons and put tunics on them. 9 And you shall gird them with sashes, Aaron and his sons, and put the hats on them. The priesthood shall be theirs for a perpetual statute. So you shall consecrate Aaron and his sons.
