Sorath Mehalaa 5 ||

Sorath 5th Guru.

ਗਈ ਬਹੋੜੁ ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਦੁਖਦਾਰੀ ॥

Gee Behorr Bandhee Shhorr Nirankaar Dhukhadhaaree ||

The Formless Lord is the Restorer of what is gone, the Liberator from captivity and the Destroyer.

ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਲੋਭੀ ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ ॥

Karam N Jaanaa Dhharam N Jaanaa Lobhee Maaeiaadhhaaree ||

I know not good deeds, I know not Lord's devotion and I am greedy and the lover of wealth.

ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਿਓ ਭਗਤੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕਾ ਇਹ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪੈਜ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

Naam Pariou Bhagath Govindh Kaa Eih Raakhahu Paij Thumaaree ||1||

As I go by the Name of the Lord's saint. My Master, save this honour of Thine.

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਤੂ ਮਾਣੁ ॥

Har Jeeo Nimaaniaa Thoo Maan ||

O reverend Lord, of the unhonoured, Thou art the honour.

ਨਿਚੀਜਿਆ ਚੀਜ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Nicheejiaa Cheej Karae Maeraa Govindh Thaeree Kudharath Ko Kurabaan || Rehaao ||

The worthless ones, my World-Lord, makes worthy. I am a sacrifice unto Thy Omnipotence. Pause.

ਜੈਸਾ ਬਾਲਕੁ ਭਾਇ ਸੁਭਾਈ ਲਖ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥

Jaisaa Baalak Bhaae Subhaaee Lakh Aparaadhh Kamaavai ||

As a child, out of love and disposition commits lacs of faults,

ਕਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਵੈ ॥

Kar Oupadhaes Jhirrakae Bahu Bhaathee Bahurr Pithaa Gal Laavai ||

and though his father instructs and reprimands him in many ways, yet ultimately he hugs him to his bosom.

ਪਿਛਲੇ ਅਉਗੁਣ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਗੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥

Pishhalae Aougun Bakhas Leae Prabh Aagai Maarag Paavai ||2||

So pardon Thou my past misdeeds, O Lord, and put me onto Thy way for the future.

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਭ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਾ ਕਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਆਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਐ ॥

Har Antharajaamee Sabh Bidhh Jaanai Thaa Kis Pehi Aakh Sunaaeeai ||

God, the Reader of heart, fully knows all the state of my mind, then, whom else am I to go to tell?

ਕਹਣੈ ਕਥਨਿ ਨ ਭੀਜੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈਐ ॥

Kehanai Kathhan N Bheejai Gobindh Har Bhaavai Paij Rakhaaeeai ||

The Lord Master is pleased not with mere utterance of words, If it pleaseth Him, He preserveth man's honour.

ਅਵਰ ਓਟ ਮੈ ਸਗਲੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਇਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਓਟ ਰਹਾਈਐ ॥੩॥

Avar Outt Mai Sagalee Dhaekhee Eik Thaeree Outt Rehaaeeai ||3||

O Lord all other shelters have I seen, Thine alone remains for me.

ਹੋਇ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਣੈ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ॥

Hoe Dhaeiaal Kirapaal Prabh Thaakur Aapae Sunai Baenanthee ||

Becoming kind and compassionate, the Lord Master Himself hears my supplication.

ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਚੂਕੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਚਿੰਤੀ ॥

Pooraa Sathagur Mael Milaavai Sabh Chookai Man Kee Chinthee ||

He unites me in the union of the Perfect. True Guru and my mind's cares are all dispelled.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਵਖਦੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸੰਤੀ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੨॥

Har Har Naam Avakhadh Mukh Paaeiaa Jan Naanak Sukh Vasanthee ||4||12||62||

The Lord God has put the cure-all of His Name into my mouth and slave Nanak, now, abides in peace.
