It was a great pleasure to be joined by some of the amazing women behind Families for Reform of CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), Hannah, Anne, Jenny and Eimear, to discuss their personal experiences of seeking support and the impact the systemic failures have and are having on their children, their families and indeed themselves. A recurring theme is how the women feel "fortunate" to have support of others outside of CAMHS, but that should not have to be the case. We should not be abandoning our young and leaving them and their families that the recent CAMHS report admitted cannot be said to be safe and effective.

We've gotten a lot of heat from Monday's podcast with SpiceBag and Pattern Up. Which is great and we wouldn't change anything, tbhwy.

One person who endorsed the posters is Ireland's leading advocate and academic in drug policy and trauma informed design, UCC's Senior Lecturer and Phycologist, Dr Sharon Lambert and it was a pleasure to get both SpiceBag and Sharon on to the podcast to discuss the posters, politically motivated art, drug policy and why provoking conversations is a good thing.

Longtime listeners will be familiar with Deputy Vice Leader of Portugal's Socialist Party, Joao Pina and his devout socialism in what is their 8th year in Government. We talk about their recent exit from the Energy Charter Treaty (Ireland needs to follow suit), their struggle to get on top of the housing crisis, how they're tackling Air BnB, continuing to increase the minimum wage, the Spanish election results and the Orcas wrecking yachts off the Portuguese-Spanish coastline. 

Mould, Broken Windows and Broken Promises - Public Housing Tenants & CATU 

In this Reboot Republic podcast, Rory talks with tenants living in public housing in Dublin about the challenges faced living with mould & broken windows due to poor maintenance by Dublin City Council, even in regenerated houses in Ballymun. We hear the real life experiences and the work being done as part of CATU Crumin-Drimnagh & Davitt House tenants & CATU Ballymun-Finglas, in organising tenants and getting DCC to respond to tenants who have been ignored, many for several years. This is taking action for a right to housing!

Terms like "just transition" have been adopted by the capitalist system as a branding exercise and it has lost all meaning. But what if we could take steps to re-democratise workplaces and local communities in ways that would benefit the majority and help make climate action more than rhetoric? Joining me from An Rabharta Glass - Green Left are Cork City Cllr Lorna Bogue and Campaigns Officer, Michael Rafferty, and they have a program document (see bleow) that aims to do just that.

Both SpiceBag and Pattern Up joined us to talk about the reasons for their poster and the heat that comes with provoking a conversation. Then Sinn Féin Cllr in Dublin City Council, Daithí Doolan, joins us all to share his concerns about the posters and why he feels they aren't helpful. There's some disagreement, conflict with a small c, but everyone wants to see harm reduction drug policies implemented.

In this Reboot Republic, Rory talks to Dara Turnbull, an Irish economist and housing researcher working with Housing Europe in Brussels about his new report 'Delivering on Housing in Ireland: A European Policy Perspective'. We discuss the current status of housing delivery in Ireland, the delivery of social housing and ideas from Europe such as tackling vacancy through a state guarantee in Estonia, the state bank lending for social housing in France, and the overall approach to delivering social housing as a public good, valuing it not stigmatising it.
