Many whole of the moons ago I was transfixed by the bellyful rock and yet somehow spiritual nature of this amazing album by the Waterboys, called This Is The Sea. 

I grew up next to the sea and also the river nearby too, as kids or, waterboys ourselves, we literally couldn't get enough of it all summer long. I remember it raining and we only found it more fun to be in the sea, fresh rain water wiping off our salted sea faces. Delicious memories. 

The as a learner I took to that album with gusto, jamming the tracks on my little lunch breaks in the senior years of high school at Moneenaguisha College Galway. Often racing home on the bike at lunch to try another easy new chord setup I was getting my head into. The idea being to break the songs out onto busking.. as we did. 

Forever thankful to those songs and the Waterboys. The roused the youthful new man and gave us a musical edge or maturity that transcended all the pop of the age. And there was great pop then in the 80s too.
