    Students from Averill Park High School and artists covered the exterior of the Doors of Hope thrift shop and food pantry in West Sand Lake with images of sun, flowers and butterflies conquering a storm to highlight the struggle against opioids. The local community has seen a large number of young people dying from opioid overdoses.   • NY Immigration Coalition Opposes Schenectady County And Rotterdam's Anti - Asylum Seekers Efforts
    The Schenectady County Legislature recently passed a resolution to issue an emergency order that temporarily prohibits New York City from relocating asylum seekers to Schenectady County. The Town of Rotterdam took similar action. Starting on July 18, three buses carrying around 150 asylum seekers arrived at the Super8 Motel in Rotterdam.
