    The community came together to march against gun violence in North Central Troy for SNUG's second annual Peace March on May 5, 2023. The guest speaker was Hudson Mayor Kamal Johnson, and in attendance were representatives from Mama Love, School 2, Troy Central Little League, Team HERO, the Boys & Girls Club, and more.   • Poor People's Freedom Van Tour in Upstate New York
    On Sunday, April 30, 2023, Hudson Mohawk Magazine Roaming Labor Correspondent Willie Terry attended the "Poor People's Campaign Freedom Van Tour" stop in Troy. The tour was to do a historical walk through Troy, highlighting the story of Harriet Tubman's freeing of Charles Nalle in 1860, who slave catchers kidnaped. Due to the weather, the walking had to be postponed. In this labor segment, Willie spoke to tour member Raamitha Pillay about it.

  • Update On PFOA Water Contamination In Poestenkill
    Though they have found two dozen private wells in addition to the middle school with elevated levels of the PFOA forever chemical, the State Department of Environmental Conservation has not been able to find any commercial or industrial source for the pollution. They believe it is due to the activities of the local schools and residents, including contamination from private septic systems. The Town will hold a meeting on May 11 to discuss a new public water district, plus DEC will hold an informational meeting at the middle school on the 18th. Town Board member Eric Wohlleber discusses the situation with Mark Dunlea of the Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
