  • Clean Slate Coming to Troy City Council
A conviction record can wreak wide and lasting damage upon people who have served out their sentence and rejoined society, permanently barring many from basic opportunities like stable jobs, trade licenses and safe housing. The Clean Slate Act, which passed the NY Senate last session but fell short in the Assembly, would change that. Lukee Forbes, Civil Rights Coordinator for the Hudson Catskill Housing Coalition, joins Hudson Mohawk Magazine co-hosts Sally Becker and Mark Dunlea to preview the Clean Slate Resolution being introduced at the Troy City Council meeting on September 8, 2022, with a request for a vote at the next meeting.
The council meeting starts at 7:00 pm with a public forum; people turning out to support the resolution will gather at 6:00 pm, at City Hall, 433 River Street. The meeting will be hybrid in-person and online (Troy City Council YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/troycitycouncil).
