    A mounting body of scientific research and personal experiences are demonstrating significant mental health benefits of the use of psychedelics. Hudson Mohawk Magazine correspondent Corinne Carey spoke with Colin Pugh, the executive director of the Brooklyn Psychedelic Society, about these substances and his plan to make psychedelic healing a publicly accessible good. This conversation took place in advance of New York's first public gathering to discuss the legalization of psychedelics to be held at the Sanctuary for Independent Media on April 19, 2022 (a virtual event), which the Brooklyn Psychedelic Society is co-sponsoring.

    Blaise Bryant is a disability rights advocate who worked on the front lines to fight for expanded funding in the New York state budget for fair pay for home care. He spoke with his regular Hudson Mohawk Magazine co-host Brea Barthel about his deep concerns with the very limited increase in pay rates for home care aides included in the budget, explaining the difficulties this made for the aides, and those who need their help. Blaise points out that New York State is the state with the worst shortage in home care aides, due in part to the low wages.

    Join us for this virtual session of the series BioArt Talks @CBIS. Anna Lindemann will present her work as an Evo Devo Artist. In her creative work, Anna combines animation, video, music, and performance to explore the emerging field of evolutionary developmental biology (Evo Devo). Her work seeks to uncover narratives within rigorous scientific research, to visualize biological processes in novel ways, to define new artistic creative processes modeled on biological processes, and to examine the human emotion and subjectivity behind scientific research. As part of her talk, Anna will highlight several Evo Devo Artworks including The Colony, an art-science performance about sisterhood and the evolution of social life in humans and ants.
