The history and architecture of Troy, NY fit perfectly with the time period and setting of The Gilded Age, the 1880’s in NYC. Troy was one of the biggest cities in the country in the mid 1800’s and many of those Gilded Age mansions and buildings still exist. HMM spoke with “The Gilded Age” casting directors, Grant Wilfley Casting Inc., to learn about this production and their call for extras.

Dr. David Borton is back with his segment "Equality Under the Law" Practical Physics." On May 24, he and his son Alex have embarked on a 750 mile trip in a solar boat from Bellingham, Washington to Ketchikan, Alaska. He and HMM correspondent Meghan Marohn sat down to talk about this epic trip.

HMM Roaming Labor Correspondent, Willie Terry, started a new segment entitled "The Struggle Continues." He defined it as a roundtable discussion on topics that impact the freedom struggles. The subject of the May 2021 talk was "Policing the Black Community: Help or Social Control." The panelists are David Walker, Leon VanDyke, Carlo Dufflar, and Angel Martinez. This part 5 segment discusses policing in Black Community during the Jim Crow era to the beginning of "cointepro."

Local writer and musician Brett Petersen describes his involvement with rock bands over the years, including bands such as Dynamite Pleasure Chair, Raziel's Tree, and most recently the Dionysus Effect. He also briefly touches on his book of short stories, entitled "The Parasite from Proto Space," published locally by Clash Books in Troy, NY.

Ally Henny is a writer, speaker, and the host of Combing the Roots, a podcast that explores issues of race and justice. Ally is also pursuing a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary with an emphasis in Race, Cultural Identity, and Reconciliation. She hopes to pastor a church someday.
