Community groups in the City of Albany are proposing that $20 million of the $85 million in federal COVID relief funds be devoted to neighborhood revitalization and housing in the city's three low-income communities. The Times Union recently detailed a century of housing discrimination supported by government policies in communities of color in Albany. Laura Travison of the South End Improvement Corporation discusses the proposal with Mark Dunlea of the Hudson Mohawk Radio Network.

Angela Kaufman is a resident of Saratoga Lakeview Mobile Home and spoke to us about the sale of the mobile park where she lives and how this sale affects all the residents living in this mobile park. The new owner is making a lot of changes. A lease with many restrictions. A new application where he encourages other mobile residents not to speak to the "individual" who has being vocal and outspoken about how the sale affects the lives of ALL the residents. Residents potentially have to leave the mobile park in Five Years. This park is one of the last affordable places in the Capital Region and some of the residents are facing the possibility of becoming homeless due to this sale. In this labor segment, he will discuss various labor articles in "Solidarity Notes" with co-host Fred Pfeiffer of the Solidarity Committee of the Capital District. "Solidarity Notes" will be aired on the third Thursday of each month.

The growing popularity of Albany's annual Holiday Lights display in Washington Park has led to controversy as neighbors decry the noise and exhaust from waiting cars, park access gets cut off to other activities, and everyone wonders if the event's become all too much. We recently caught up with an Albany Common Council committee discussion of the issue, including a lack of stakeholder involvement for possible Holiday Lights alternate sites around the area.

Medea Benjamin, a co-founder of Code Pink, talks about organizing efforts in Miami and elsewhere to convince President Biden to end the embargo on Cuba.
