Wednesday night, President Donald Trump’s administration rescinded a policy put in place by then-President Obama that bars public schools from discriminating against transgender students on a federal level ― and which allows trans kids to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity.

Until Orlando’s Pulse massacre last year, the UpStairs attack was the largest in U.S. history to target the queer community. Though the fire took place just four years after the 1969 Stonewall riots― which are considered the symbolic start of the modern LGBTQ rights movement ― the attack itself has become a bit of a historical footnote. He wink-winked and nudge-nudged to them while being hailed as gay-supportive by the above-the-radar media, which would help keep him from alienating other voters. It worked. He won. And anti-LGBTQ hate groups like the Family Research Council, Focus on the Family and others are once again feeling as if they can accomplish anything.

The prospect of Susan Sarandon playing Hollywood legend Bette Davis in the new FX series,“Feud: Bette and Joan,” is already generating white-hot excitement among gay audiences. And it’s easy to see why: Sarandon, 70, is a longtime advocate for LGBTQ rights, while Davis, who died in 1989, has been an enduring gay icon. Speaking to PrideSource in advance of the show’s March 5 debut, Sarandon was more coy about her own love life.

Gavin Grimm, a 17-year-old who took onthe Gloucester County School Board in Virginia over the right to use the public school restroom that corresponds with his gender identity, has become an icon in the queer community. He will appear before SCOTUS next month, along with the ACLU, to argue his case and is receiving high-visibility support from people across the country-- including Laverne Cox on stage at the Grammy's on Sunday night.
