Human factors addresses what people are being asked to do (the Work and its characteristics), who is doing it (the People and their competence) and where they are working (the Organisation and its attributes).  

Human factors is about ensuring a good ‘fit’ between people, the equipment they use, the task they carry out and the environment in which they work. Effective use of human factors will make work safer, healthier and more productive  (Ref: www.humanfactors101.com).  

With significant experience over many years in office and industrial ergonomics, Dr Bob Bridger is the author of a standard textbook on Human Factors and Ergonomics which sells worldwide and is now in its fourth edition. Bob has also published a book titled "A Guide to Active Working in the Modern Office".  Bob drafted a curriculum for a new MSc programme in Human Factors and Patient Safety.  

After 3 successful years, Bob stepped down in April 2021 as the President of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors. He is a trained Expert Witness (Academy of Experts, Gray's Inn, 2005).
