The origin of the word ikigai goes back to the Heian period (794 to 1185).

Ikigai is a Japanese concept that combines the terms iki, meaning “alive” or “life,” and gai, meaning “benefit” or “worth.” When combined, these terms mean that which gives your life worth, meaning, or purpose.

If you search for Ikigai in your search browser it will most likely throw up a diagram showing 4 circles overlapping in a Venn diagram format.  Many consider this to be not a true representation as it has been "Westernised", however, from my perspective it helped me focus and understand why I was doing what I was doing (i.e., my reason for jumping out of bed in the morning).

We all have an Ikigai and in this short video, I would like to share my lessons learned and perhaps it may just help shape your Ikigai journey as you find your "reason for being"....YOUR IKIGAI.

Near where I live in the UK there is a Lamborghini garage, it's a very big garage and there are cars there that are megabucks

When my daughter and I were driving around and passed this garage, she said to me "what happened to your desire for a Lamborghini ?"

I went on to explain and discuss that as I have grown older my desires have taken a balanced approach relative to needs. What does that mean...?

Let me share my thoughts and views via this short video and also take a lead into my way of thinking based upon Ikigai (i.e., what is it that makes me jump out of bed in the morning".

My first real podcast in this new series. As I grow older (boo hoo), my fear of Obsolesence also grows. I try and control that "fear monster" as much as possible.  In this video, I want to connect and share with you my approach on how I manage my fear of obsolesence.
